2017 Golden Rose Stakes Odds Update

September 20th, 2017

Fourteen horses have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s 2017 Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens; offering punters terrific value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Menari has returned to racing in devastating form this time and remains a clear $2 favourite in 2017 Golden Rose betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Menari has shown plenty of ability throughout his entire racing career so far, but he has gone to another level as a three-year-old and should prove extremely difficult to beat when he takes his place in the Golden Rose field.

Storming home to win the Listed The Rosebud (1100m) first-up on August 12th, the Snitzel colt never appeared in doubt in the Group 2 The Run To The Rose (1200m) a fortnight and won the race by close to two lengths.

Menari will have to show some early pace after drawing barrier 11, but he is undoubtedly the horse to beat in the Golden Rose and should have no issue crossing the field.

Pariah has also returned to racing in excellent form this time and represents terrific value on the second line of 2017 Golden Rose betting markets at $7 odds, or $2.30 to finish in the first three.

Pariah immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow upon in autumn; winning the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) first-up before finished second in both the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G (1100m) and Group 1 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m).

Having clearly had enough by the time he ran eleventh in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the son of Redoute’s Choice trialled extremely well in the lead-up to his Spring Carnival campaign and resumed for a dominant win in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m).

Pariah chased home Menari in the Run To The Rose last time out and will appreciate a step up to 1400m in the Golden Rose 2017.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at 2017 Golden Rose odds of less-than $10, Victorian raider Merchant Navy is yet to taste anything but success and could receive the run of the race on Saturday from barrier 2.

Debuting to racing for a dominant win in the Racing.com Maiden Plate (1200m) on March 2nd, the Fastnet Rock colt repeated the effort and result in the Nick Johnstone Real Estate Handicap (1400m) before making a successful transition to black type company in the Listed Anzac Day Stakes (1400m) on April 25th.

Having resumed for a smart win in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) on September 2nd, Merchant Navy will only improve into the Golden Rose and should be right in the finish of the feature race.
