Ready For Victory to Contest 2015 Golden Rose Stakes

August 11th, 2015

Trainer Mick Price has been thrilled with the form and condition displayed by Ready For Victory since his return to work and has revealed the three-year-old will be set for a tilt at the featured Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) this time.

Ready For Victory has had only three competitive starts since first debuting to racing in March, but stamped his claims as one to watch from his maiden appearance when taking out the talent-rich Listed Festival Of Racing 1000 (1000m).

Underlining a race like the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 29th as his likely first point of call, Price told Racenet he is confident the conditions of the 2015 Golden Rose Stakes will play directly into the strengths of the More Than Ready colt.

“Both horses are very well in themselves and will kick off in the same race which is the McNeil Stakes (1200m, Caulfield August 29) and then I reckon Ready For Victory will go to the Golden Rose,” Price said of the colt and stable mate Prince Of Brooklyn.

“His owners Sun International will be keen to chase Group I form with him.

Damien Oliver said Ready For Victory was not entirely happy in the heavy over the last 200m which ties in with his (ATC) Sires’ Produce Stakes run so we’ll avoid heavy tracks in the future.”

Price is yet to set a specific target beyond the 2015 Golden Rose Stakes for Ready For Victory but confirmed one of the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) or Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) is likely to figure.

“The Coolmore is a stallion-making race and if it looks like he is brilliant enough then that could be the way to go.” Price added.

Running a credible fourth in the major Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) in only his second competitive start on March 21st, Ready For Victory has not been seen at the races since a luckless run for seventh in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on Day 1 of The Championships. is currently offering the best 2015 Golden Rose Stakes odds, for which Ready For Victory can be taken for a particularly generous $17 for success!
